The Blue Heron did not survive the hurricanes and severe storms of fall 2018 unscathed. We’ve been busy with repairs and improvements big and small. Most notably, but probably least noticeably, there’s a brand new, heavy duty roof!
The pool area got a refresh for this summer, including new navy blue and white pool loungers and chairs as well as a new charcoal grill. There are eight loungers and eight chairs total, plus a shaded picnic table that seats eight, so no need to fight your family and friends for your preferred seating type!
As we continue to make The Blue Heron a home away from home for ourselves and our guests, we’re excited to reveal updated half bathrooms for this summer. New sinks, new mirrors, new fixtures and hardware, new paint!
Some of our personal favorite, more minor improvements include (1) new lamp and repurposed art for the coral bedroom; (2) second night stand painted white in the coral bedroom; (3) new rattan table as a second night stand in the mid-level master bedroom; (4) new umbrella for the outdoor dining table; (5) new “The Blue Heron” sign; (6) new bench and pillows that accentuate the ocean view from the living room; (7) new Ninja blender/food processor/smoothie system for the kitchen; (8) new drum shades for bathroom light fixtures; and (9) some new bathroom accessories.
In response to guests’ comments from last summer, we’ve also labeled all the light switches and included a new seafood cracker set. ENJOY!
Book your stay at The Blue Heron in Duck, NC’s Outer Banks now! Reservations started coming in August of 2018 and by February 2019, most weeks in the peak months of June, July, and August had been snatched up. Currently, the weeks of June 2nd and August 11th are the only peak-season weeks left! The Blue Heron also allows short stays in May and last year, September was booked solid! The shoulder season is lovely in the Outer Banks and less crowded!
